During these classes Cheryl will guide you in her innovative way of participating in the ageless, world wide tradition of doll making. She'll show you basic body construction as well as her Nip, Tuck, Twist & Tack method of creating highly expressive art dolls with an abundance of quirky character! This is an excellent creative opportunity for parents and children.

Cheryl is a fine artist and crafter with over 20 years experience as a professional picture framer. Her approach is a blend of standard framing practices and inventive techniques using found and recycled materials. Participants will learn basic methods of budget-minded framing, and tricks to frame art with decorative matting and creative framing. This beginning workshop will work with 16x20 or smaller.

This textural faux finishing class will cover many unique techniques such as palette knife, Venetian plaster, and textural relief. You'll then paint, sponge and stain your piece creating a painterly effect. Any of these techniques can also be applied to a wall in your home.

Dad's day is coming up and MECCA has some creative recycled art gift ideas. So make your papa proud with a hand made gift that honors him and the environment. No need to pre-register, just drop by between the hours of 11-3pm. Children under the age of 12 should be accompanied by an adult.

Join us for some creative family time!

We offer hands-on recycle art workshops for kids on the first Saturday of each month. Drop in any time between 11am - 3pm. All materials are included for each workshop. We ask for a $3-$6 sliding scale donation per child. Each month features a different creative reuse project.

You can also come by during any open hours for uninstructed creative play time. Just browse our many arts and crafts reference books and then, for a donation, you can use the studio and materials on hand at MECCA to to create recycled arts and crafts.
